BCC Drops Softball Doubleheader But Postseason Hopes Still Alive

April 9, 2013 - Brevard Community College's softball team dropped a Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference doubleheader at Indian River State College on Tuesday, falling 7-1 and 7-0.

The losses dropped BCC's conference record to 7-7 with two games remaining. The Titans hold the third and final postseason qualifying spot and can reach the NJCAA Division I Region 8A/FCSAA Atlantic District tournament May 2-5 in Pensacola if fourth-place Palm Beach State loses one of its remaining games.

Palm Beach is 2-9 in the conference and 5-38 overall. It hosts Miami Dade (10-3 and 24-11) for a doubleheader on Wednesday. The teams also must complete a suspended game in which Miami Dade led 10-0 in the fourth inning.

Palm Beach State closes the regular season with a doubleheader with BCC on Saturday on the Palm Bay Campus.

Indian River improved to 11-3 in conference and 37-8 overall, moving past Miami Dade and back into first place. BCC is 28-25 overall.

Shannen Marchu was the losing pitcher in the first game for BCC and Brooke Formby took the loss in the second game.
