BCC Softball Opens Conference Play with Doubleheader Split

March 10, 2013 - The Brevard Community College softball team opened its Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference schedule on Sunday by splitting a doubleheader with visiting Miami Dade College.

BCC won the first game 11-7 behind winning pitcher Shannen Marchu. Miami Dade won the second game 5-3. Brooke Formby took the loss.

Offensively for BCC Nichole Mills was 3-for-6 on the day with a double, three runs batted in and three runs scored; Kat Ammons was 3-for-6 with with a three-run home run and Alaina DeVeney was 4-for-8.

BCC is 1-1 in the conference and 18-19 overall. Miami Dade is 2-2 and 16-10.

Next up for BCC is a non-conference doubleheader against County College of Morris Heartland at 5 and 7 p.m. Monday on the Palm Bay Campus. Lake-Sumter State College visits for a non-conference doubleheader at 4 and 6 p.m. Thursday.

BCC's next conference home date is March 20 against Indian River State College at 4 and 6 p.m.
