BCC Softball Splits with Seminole State

February 23, 2013 - Brevard Community College's softball team split a doubleheader with Seminole State College in Sanford on Saturday, winning the first game 7-5 but losing the second 9-6.

BCC is 10-15 on the season. Seminole State is 9-8.

Shannen Marchu was the winning pitcher in the first game for BCC. Alex DeJesus took the loss in the second game.

"It was a gritty effort all day," BCC assistant coach Bob Yanczewski said.

"Seminole scored six runs in the first inning in the second game but it was 7-6 in their favor heading into the bottom of the fifth inning."

Manya Lopez had a big game at the plate for BCC in the second game going 2-for-4 with a three-run homer.

"It was a team effort offensively in the first game," Yanczewski said.

BCC travels to Florida State College Jacksonville for a doubleheader at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday. BCC hosts St. Johns River State College in a doubleheader at 4 and 6 p.m. Wednesday on the Palm Bay Campus.
