BCC Swept in Softball Doubleheader

February 15, 2013 - The Brevard Community College softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader on Friday at St. Johns River State College in Palatka, losing 4-2 and 5-3.

St. Johns won both games with rallies in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring three runs in the final inning in the first game and two runs in the final inning in the second game.

BCC is 6-11 and plays doubleheaders on its home field on the Palm Bay Campus at 2 and 4 p.m. Sunday against Polk State College and 5 and 7 p.m. on Monday against Central Florida Community College.

Admission to BCC home games is free.

Shannen Marchu was the losing pitcher in the first game and Alex DeJesus in the second.

BCC outhit St. Johns, collecting 13 hits including six doubles in the first game and nine hits in the second. St. Johns had seven hits in each game.

However, BCC was guilty of three errors in the first game and four in the second.

Offensively for BCC Cassie Boggs was 6-for-8 over the two games with a double; Kat Ammons was 3-for-8 with two doubles and Manya Lopez 4-for-6 with two doubles.

St. Johns River improved to 9-14.
