Eastern Florida freshman midfielder and defender Jamie Perriello of Boca Raton, FL, was named Region 8 MVP, becoming the second Titan in two seasons to win the award. Then-sophomore Courtney Hueston of Miami, FL won the honor for the Titans in 2012.

Perriello was one of eight 2013 Titans honored including first-team selections sophomore defender Heather Williams of Homestead, FL; sophomore forward Jenci Villaverde of Palm Bay, FL; sophomore forward Nikki Mitchell of Toronto, Canada; sophomore forward Amanda Lodge of Fleming Island, FL; and sophomore defender Jade Rhodes of Bournemouth, England.

“I'm thrilled to hear that I've been chosen as MVP for Region 8,” Perriello said. “I have to give it to my team though — I wouldn't be where I am without them. This season has had it's ups and downs but at the end of the day we are a team and a family and we work together to achieve our goals.”

Named to the second team were sophomores and midfielders Sue Kumaning of London, England and Kelsey Smith of Port St. Lucie, FL.

Kumaning and Rhodes were first-team selections in 2012. Williams, who went on to become the only freshman named as a National Soccer Coaches Association of America first-team All-America, was a second-team honoree.

Jeff Carr, who coached Eastern Florida to its third consecutive regional championship, was named the regional coach of the year for the third straight season.

Eastern Florida finished the regular season at 10-2-1 and plays Nov. 9 in Mississippi for the right to advance to the NJCAA Division I Women's National Championship Tournament for the second straight year.

The 12-team tournament will be contested Nov. 18-23 on Eastern Florida's Melbourne Campus.

"It is always nice when your players get recognized for the season they had as a team," Carr said. "Even the players not mentioned in these honors are deserving of recognition since everything we accomplished we accomplished as a team. I applaud all our honorees, our team and our coaching staff."

Carr is assisted by Calvin Dixon and Dick Schroeder.
