Eastern Florida Women's Soccer Blanks Middle Georgia

Sept. 21, 2013 - Eastern Florida State College's women's soccer team improved to 5-2-1 on the season with a 2-0 victory over host Middle Georgia on Saturday.

Eastern Florida, ranked 14th nationally by the NJCAA and seventh by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, got goals from sophomore Nikki Mitchell in the 44th minute and Jade Rhodes in the 68th minute.

The goal was Mitchell's fifth of the season.

Sophomore Jenci Villaverde assisted on Mitchell's goal as the Titans outshot Middle Georgia 35-3. Sophomore goalkeeper Katelyn Kern recorded the shutout for Eastern Florida.

"We created a lot of opportunities but we still did not finish enough of those chances which allowed Middle Georgia to stay in the game," Eastern Florida head coach Jeff Carr said.

Middle Georgia fell to 5-3-1 on the season.

Next up for Eastern Florida is a 5 p.m. Friday match at Florida College System Activities Association/NJCAA Region 8 foe Broward College. The women next play at home at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30 against FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 foe Polk State College. Admission to Eastern Florida home matches is free.
