Carr's Message to BCC Women's Soccer Team: Play Our Game

November 2, 2012 - Showing no ill effects from Thursday's 12-hour bus ride from the Melbourne Campus to Hattiesburg, MS, the Brevard Community College women's soccer team breezed through a crisp one-hour practice session on Friday in preparation for Saturday's NJCAA Division I District H championship game.

Awaiting BCC in the qualifier for the Nov. 12-17 national championship tournament at Melbourne Central Catholic is Pearl River Community College. The game is at 2 p.m. Eastern time on Pearl River's Poplarville, MS campus.

BCC is 12-1 and ranked No. 1 nationally in the NJCAA poll. Pearl River is 12-2 and ranked 18th. The winner joins 11 other teams in the national tournament that begins with pool play at 9 a.m. Nov. 12. The loser's season is over.

On Friday morning BCC head coach Jeff Carr and assistant coaches Mike Martin and Mark Nicole met briefly with the team and sophomore co-captain Lois Edvardsson led them through a jog and loosening up session.

Following the afternoon practice session Carr's message to his team was simple.

"We have to worry about how we play moreso than the way they play," he said.

"We want to play our game of possession, not forcing things."
