Edvardsson, Hueston BCC Student-Athletes of the Month
October 29, 2012 - Sophomore women's soccer forward Lois Edvardsson and sophomore midfielder Courtney Hueston are the Brevard Community College student-athletes of the month for October.
Edvardsson not only finished the month and the regular season tied with Hueston as BCC's leading scorer with 10 goals but also set career records for goals and points.
Edvardsson, a native of Gothenburg, Sweden, has 21 goals in her two seasons, exceeding the previous record of 16 set by 2012 graduate Dana Robbins of Palm Coast who is now at Embry Riddle in Daytona Beach. Edvardsson also amassed 48 points (two for each goal, one for each assist) to surpass Robbins' record of 38.
As for Hueston, a native of Miami, in addition to finishing with 10 goals she also recorded a team-high six assists for a team-high 26 points.
BCC head coach Jeff Carr can't help but be impressed by Edvardsson's efforts that included volunteering to play the vital center back position on defense after injuries and a red card suspension left the Titans shorthanded at a critical juncture of the season.
He also was impressed by Hueston's prowess as a scorer and distributor of the ball.
"Lois and Courtney are very deserving of being Athletes of the Month as they both are leading goal scorers," Carr said. "Courtney leads our team in assists and Lois has also started three games on defense this season in very big games.
"They are very unselfish and are always putting the team first. They are two very special young ladies."
