BCC Women Maintain No. 1 Soccer Ranking

October 24, 2012 - For the second week in a row the Brevard Community College women's soccer team is ranked No. 1 nationally in the NJCAA Division I poll.

Conversely, BCC is ranked No. 4 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll, down one spot from last week.

BCC finished its regular season at 12-1 and now awaits the NJCAA Division I District H title match in Mississippi on Nov. 3 against either Pearl River Community College or Meridian Community College who play on Saturday.

The District H winner advances to the NJCAA Division I national championship tournament to be played Nov. 12-17 at Melbourne Central Catholic.

The No. 1 ranking, the third for BCC this season, resonates for head coach Jeff Carr.

"It is quite an honor for our program, our ladies, coaching staff, (BCC President) Dr. Jim Richey, faculty and staff as everyone has had a role in our success," Carr said.

"It is now crunch time, so you perform or you go home and you fall from the top spot if you don't win. The NSCAA poll is up and down, we win and we go down a spot, but that has also happened to other teams in this poll. Again everyone has an opinion and the bottom line is the last poll and where you finish."
