From The Pitch: Mixing Fun With Competition
October 22, 2012 - After a tough week with three games, we had a very fun and light practice last Monday. We played a fun game called kickball, and we also tried baseball, something completely new to me and the other internationals. I have to give some credit to you Americans; the sport of baseball is actually quite fun.
But as you all know, our main focus is soccer, and to our delight we got to play some of that last week as well.
We have practiced a lot of possession and movement of the ball across the field, and it is starting to look really good. At the game we played against Dakota County Technical College on Saturday, we used what we have learned in practice and possessed the ball well. The game ended 8-0 in our favor.
The important thing is we are keeping our winning streak and the first place ranking in the NJCAA poll that we have earned. We are already preparing for our game in Mississippi. A win there will take us to the national tournament.
The goal is to stay number one all the way to the end. That is a goal worth fighting for. Do I think we can do it? Absolutely, surely, definitely yes.
This is our time.
