September 24, 2012 - Sophomore women's soccer player Courtney Hueston is the Brevard Community College student-athlete of the week for the week of Sept. 17-23.

Hueston, a Miami native, graduate of Coral Reef High School and a transfer from the University of Miami, assisted on both BCC goals in the Titans come-from-behind 2-1 victory in the rain at Broward College on Friday. .

The game was BCC's opener in the Florida College System Activities Association and Region 8 and the first of six with Broward and Polk State to determine which one advances to the NJCAA playoffs. The postseason culminates with the national championship tournament on Nov. 11-17 at Melbourne Central Catholic.

Hueston's assists on second-half goals by sophomores Morgan Taylor Smith and Lois Edvardsson struck a chord with BCC head coach Jeff Carr.

"Courtney played a great game for us against Broward," Carr said. "She had several great chances herself to score but did a great job setting up our two goals in the second half.

"She is a special player and we are very fortunate to have a player of her caliber on our team. She comes to play every game."
