From The Pitch: Rain, Rain Go Away

August 27, 2012 - In the beginning of the week we learned a very important thing: when it rains in Melbourne it is hard to play soccer. So because of lightning storms we were unable to practice the first three days of the week. Welcome to the Sunshine State.

The sun finally shined on Thursday, so after six days without any soccer practice we went to Florida Tech to play our second scrimmage, and the heat was intrusive. We tried a new formation, and it took us a while to adjust. FIT played well and they won fairly 3-2.

We had a fun practice on Friday, and on Saturday we were on the road again going west to play Eckerd College. We changed our formation again, and this time we felt more comfortable and had much more possession of the ball. The game, which I think we could have won, ended 1-1.

I really hope that we can practice every day this week, because on Saturday, Sept. 1 we play our first season game, and we need all the preparation we can get. So dear Sunshine State, live up to your name.
