From The Pitch: Women's Soccer Co-Captain Details Second Week of Pre-Season Practice
August 13, 2012 - Pain, exhaustion, heat, frustration: Many words can describe our second week of preseason.
Because of some minor injuries sneaking up on our players, many of us could not practice. As the week went by, I could definitely feel some frustration in the group from those players who could not play to the best of their ability because of their physical state.
I understand how hard it is, especially for the freshmen who want nothing but to play and show their talent, to be unable to participate to a 100 percent. But as we get to know each other more, I feel that we get along really well as a team. And I have to say, we are a great group of girls.
Luckily, after our team watched the women's soccer final in the Olympics (Yay, go USA!), our coach gave us three days off to rest our aching bodies. These three days came at the right time, and I think we all appreciated the time we got to regain some strength — both physical and mental.
This upcoming week is very exciting, because we will play our first scrimmage. We are facing Flagler, our first big challenge as a team, and the expectations are high. Come watch us play at Viera Regional Park this Friday at 7:30 PM.
