Tough Schedule Awaits BCC Soccer Team

June 28, 2012, Melbourne, FL - With the goal of participating in the NJCAA Division I national championship tournament that Brevard Community College hosts in November, head women's soccer coach Jeff Carr has drawn up a 14-game schedule he hopes will prepare his players for the ultimate challenge.

Carr also has scheduled scrimmages against four four-year schools to get his team ready for an early season trip to Kansas where defending national champion Tyler (Tex.) Junior College and 2011 national tournament participant Butler (Kan.) Community College await.

Then there is the trip to Darton, Ga., to play the always competitive Georgia Perimeter and 2011 national finalist Darton College with which the Titans have established what Carr calls a friendly rivalry.

In fact, it was Darton which prevented BCC from reaching the nationals, defeating the Titans 2-1 in the district final that determined the tournament field.

While those contests will serve as a measuring stick for Carr's players, the six games that will determine if the Titans reach the postseason come later in the schedule against in-state rivals Polk State and Broward College.

All in all, Carr said, the schedule is the most challenging the Titans, entering their third year as a program, have ever faced.

"Outside of our games with in state rivals it is very difficult to find games that are competitive and will make us better as a team," Carr said.

"We actually have more home games this year as we have some out of state teams coming down to play us; however we do have to travel to play games and last year we had a couple games that were blowouts that did not help us get better as a team.

"We will have to play very well every game just to compete."
