Eastern Florida Men Blank Georgia Military 2-0

Sept. 6, 2014 - Eastern Florida’s men’s soccer team improved to 2-1 on the season on Saturday defeating host Georgia Military 2-0 in Milledgeville.

Sophomore Ivan Magalhaes and freshman Colton Johnson scored for the Titans, both coming on assists from Justin Gavin in the 77th and 79th minutes respectively.

Sophomore Jorge Madera kept a clean sheet in goal allowing the Titans to record their second straight shutout.

“Jorge made some great saves,” said Eastern Florida head coach Oliver Twelvetrees. “He made three really, really good saves.”

Eastern Florida dominated play in the first half but missed several scoring chances allowing Georgia Military to threaten in the second half.

But Madera and his defense stood strong and Magalhaes and Johnson scored to put the game away.

Eastern Florida concludes its Georgia trip with a 1 p.m. Sunday match with Georgia Perimeter at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro.
