BCC Men's Soccer Program's ID Camp a Success

soccer camp

February 23, 2013 - Sixty-six players, the majority of them high school seniors, turned out for Saturday's inaugural ID camp hosted by the Brevard Community College men's soccer program that debuts on the Melbourne Campus this fall.

The players came from Brevard County, Clearwater, Jacksonville, Miami and other parts of Florida to showcase their skills for head coach Oliver Twelvetrees who directed the camp and is heading up the BCC program.

BCC will be only the second men's junior college soccer program in Florida, joining Broward College. The BCC women's program, which finished as the NJCAA Division I runner-up in its third season of existence, is one of three programs in Florida along with Broward and Polk State College.

Based on what he saw on Saturday Twelvetrees is optimistic that BCC's men's program will be competitive.

"It's certainly a great first event for Brevard soccer, I'm excited that there are so many guys interested in the program," Twelvetrees said.

"There certainly some really high-level players. So it's certainly exceeded my expectations so far. I came from a top 10 team in Kansas (Barton Community College) but the talent level locally here is so far beyond the level of talent in Kansas. It's unreal. I know with the base of players we can compete and be where we want to be in the next few years."
