Colgan, Queen Earn Student-Athlete of Week Honors
Jan. 6, 2014 - Basketball players Kiersten Colgan and Jermohn Queen are the Eastern Florida State College Female and Male Student-Athletes of the Week for the week ending Jan. 5.
Colgan, a sophomore from Satellite Beach, FL and Satellite High, led Eastern Florida with 17 points in a 57-53 loss to host Broward College in the Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference opener on Saturday.
"I'm pleased with the effort Kiersten has put forth and with the results that effort has produced," said Eastern Florida head coach Jim Grimes. "We will continue to have high expectations for her."
Queen, a freshman from Stuart, FL and Martin County High, led Eastern Florida with 33 points in a 93-91 loss to Georgia Highlands Community College on Friday and was the second-highest scorer with 18 points in a 115-71 victory over Pasco-Hernando Community College on Saturday.
"I'm very proud of Jermohn, and the unbelievable mentality he's come back from the break with," said Eastern Florida head coach Jeremy Shulman. "And it shows with four tremendous games in a row since we've come back. Jermohn is a tough, hard-nosed competitor, and I'm very glad to have the opportunity to coach him."
