Six Soccer Players Share Student-Athlete of Week Honors

Nov. 12, 2013 - Women's soccer players Heather Williams, Devin McAllister and Amanda Lodge and men's soccer players Keenan King, Justin Gavin and Jorge Madera are the Eastern Florida State College Female and Male Student-Athletes of the Week for the week ending Nov. 10.

All six played pivotal roles in Eastern Florida's women's and men's soccer teams advancing to their respective national championship tournaments to be played next week.

Williams, a sophomore defender from Homestead, FL, had the assists on goals by McAllister, a sophomore midfielder from Melbourne, FL, and Lodge, a sophomore forward from Fleming Island, FL. The 2-0 victory over Jones County Junior College on Friday in Ellisville, MS, lifted the women into their second consecutive NJCAA Division I Women's National Championship Tournament.

King, a freshman defender from Boynton Beach, FL, had the assist on the goal from Gavin, a freshman forward from Port St. Lucie, FL. And Madera, a freshman goalkeeper from Sanger, CA, had a clean sheet in Eastern Florida's 1-0 victory over Louisburg College on Saturday in Melbourne that qualified the first-year program for the NJCAA Division I Men's National Championship Tournament.

The women's tournament will be contested Monday through Saturday on the Melbourne Campus while the men's tournament will be conducted simultaneously at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, TX.
