Basketball's Addison Spruill BCC Student-Athlete of the Month for February

Addison Spruill

March 4, 2013 - Sophomore men's basketball guard/forward Addison Spruill is Brevard Community College's Student-Athlete of the Month for February.

Spruill, a 6-foot, 4-inch graduate of Pender (N.C.) High School finished the regular season as BCC's leading scorer at 17 points per game, second-leading rebounder at 6.6 per game and second-leading free throw shooter at 73.2 percent.

Spruill was a two-time NJCAA Region 8/Florida College System Activities Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the second time for the week ending Feb. 17.

Also, his leadership along with that of classmate and co-captain Nyles Evans was instrumental in BCC finishing the regular season at 24-6 and winning its first Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference championship since 1999-2000.

"Addison has been invaluable to us this year, and never has that been more evident than in February, during our stretch run in conference," BCC head coach Jeremy Shulman said. "Addison's 29-point, eight-rebound game against Palm Beach State (72-69 overtime victory on Feb. 16) was one of the more impressive performances I have ever been associated with. Addison is very well deserving of this award."

Spruill also was named the men's Southern Conference Player of the Year last week by the Florida College System Activities Association.
