Bochy, Rosseau Among Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame Inductees

January 7, 2013 - Brevard Community College is represented in the 2013 Class of the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame.

Included among the inductees are BCC graduate and former All-American baseball player Bruce Bochy, who has won two World Series titles in the last three seasons as manager of Major League Baseball's San Francisco Giants, and former long-time BCC head baseball coach Ernie Rosseau.

BCC's baseball field, where Rosseau plied his trade for 29 seasons before stepping down last spring, is named in Bochy's honor.

Rosseau's BCC teams won two state titles and he retired with a won-loss record of 735-517. He sent numerous players to four-year universities and professional baseball, including Justin Hoyman, Freddie Thon, Craig Hurba, Brendan Winn and Carlos Reyes.

Rosseau played for the St. Louis Cardinals and coached minor league baseball with the New York Mets and Chicago White Sox.

"What an accomplishment for Coach Rosseau and Bruce, they both have had a major impact on our baseball program on and off the field," BCC Athletic Director Jeff Carr said.

"They are both so deserving of this honor. I am really excited for both of them. Their years of dedication and success have been recognized by the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame. Well done gentlemen."

The 2013 Hall of Fame class will be inducted on May 10 at Mavericks Sports Grill & Bar, formerly Dogs Sports Bar & Grill, on the SR 520 Causeway on Merritt Island.
