Eastern Florida Golfers Finish Fourth at Florida Tech Tournament
March 18, 2014 - Eastern Florida's golfers finished fourth in Florida Tech's Panther Invitational at The Majors in Palm Bay on Tuesday.
The Titans shot a 54-hole total of 916. Host Florida Tech won with a total of 894. St. Leo University was second at 896 and Florida Tech's B team third at 908. The University of Tampa was fifth at 939 and Guilford College sixth at 954.
Eastern Florida was the only NJCAA school in the field, the other five representing NCAA Division II.
The fourth-place finish was Eastern Florida's third in four tournaments this fall. The Titans won a tournament at Darton College in Albany, GA.
Individually for Eastern Florida Kyle Benson shot 77-75-76- 228 to tie for seventh; Drew Cooke shot 84-74-73-231 to tie for 12th; Arthur Leonard shot 85-72-75-232 to tie for 14th; Dalton Bartlett 75-76-87-238 for 23rd and Nick Maynard 87-82-74-243 to tie for 33rd.
Ray Badenhorst of Florida Tech was the medalist at 213.
Comprising the all-tournament team were Badenhorst, Brett Krog and Justin Kalanquin (a former Brevard Community College golfer), all of Florida Tech and Joey Savoie and Chaz Heinz of Saint Leo.
Next up for Eastern Florida is the March 31-April 1 Buccaneer Invitational at NCAA Division II Barry University in Miami.
