Eastern Florida Golf Back in Action at Alabama Tournament
Feb. 12, 2014 - Eastern Florida's golf team returns to action in Saturday and Sunday's tournament at Faulkner State Community College in Fairhope, AL.
The Titans will be competing against Faulkner State, defending NJCAA Division I national champion Central Alabama, Wallace State Community College, the University of Mobile and Darton State College.
Eastern Florida finished fourth out of 15 teams in its season-opening Titans Winter Invitational at Suntree Country Club earlier this month and that tournament identified areas where head coach Jamie Howell believes his team needs to improve.
"Be more aggressive with short putting; improve our short game skills; compete more in practice to chip the ball closer to the hole and improve our scoring on par 5s by making good choices," he said.
Howell expects a challenging 54 holes.
"The host course, Rock Creek Country Club, is difficult in good weather and the weather in the Mobile area this time of year can be pleasant to incredibly cold," Howell said. "We won this event last year making up 13 shots on the final day so we return with a good vibe and good memories.
"The course is hilly and undulating and greens can be quite challenging."
Competing for Eastern Florida will be Arthur Leonard, Brad Gray, Nick Maynard, Kyle Benson and Dalton Bartlett.
