Eastern Florida Golfers Fifth at Central Alabama After Opening Round
Nov. 11, 2013 - Eastern Florida State College's golfers sit fifth after Monday's first day of the 36-hole Central Alabama/Willow Point Country Club Invitational in Alexander City, AL.
Darton State College of Georgia is first at 293 and defending national champion Central Alabama second at 294. Eastern Florida is nine strokes off the lead at 302.
Individually Gavin Moyihan of the University of Alabama is first at 68. For Eastern Florida freshman Drew Cooke shot 74 while sophomore Nick Maynard shot 75, classmate Kyle Benson 76, freshman Brad Gray 77 and sophomore Arthur Leonard 82.
Eastern Florida freshman Lorenzo Bolivar shot 77 and classmate Dalton Bartlett 81.
"Willow Point Country Club played difficult today and we did not adjust well to the new greens, just reopened on Oct. 1," said Eastern Florida head coach Jamie Howelll.
"From tee to green we played reasonably well but we did not get the ball in the hole efficiently all day. Good news is we are only nine shots out going into Tuesday's final round and if we can play similar to today and hole some putts you never know what may happen in the end."
The tournament is the finale of the fall for Eastern Florida which has two victories this season.
