Eastern Florida Golfers Finish Seventh at Webber

Sept. 24, 2013 - Eastern Florida State College's golf team finished seventh out of 11 teams in the 20th annual Webber International Fall Invitational at the Lake Wales Country Club on Tuesday.

The Titans finished with a 54-hole total of 301-298-302-901.

Northwood University won with an 874. Webber was second at 876; Southeastern University third at 882; Johnson and Wales fourth at 883; Warner College fifth at 885 and Darton State sixth at 898.

Webber's Bryan Rutherford was the individual winner at 212.

Individually for Eastern Florida Brad Grey shot 75-73-73-221; Kyle Benson 74-74-80-228; Nick Maynard 77-75-76-228; Dalton Bartlett 77-79-73-229 and Lorenzo Bolivar 75-76-80-231. Eastern Florida's Arthur Leonard, playing as an individual, shot 75-75-77-227.

"We need to do better," Eastern Florida head coach Jamie Howell said. "We're not that far off. We've got to clean up the mistakes. We are making too many small errors, too many unforced errors that cost us."

Next up for Eastern Florida is the Oct. 21-22 Darton Fall Invitational in Albany, GA that doubles as the NJCAA District 4 Preview.

Eastern Florida won the District 4 title last spring to advance to the NJCAA Division I national tournament for the 11th consecutive year.
