April 15, 2013 - Brevard Community College's golf team finished Monday's first day of the NJCAA Division I District 14 tournament in Pendleton, S.C. in first place.

Thirteen teams are competing. The top eight finishers advance to the NJCAA Division I national tournament in Lubbock, TX in May. BCC has competed in the national tournament for 10 consecutive years.

Chris Atchley of Wallace State shot 71-66-137 for first place.

"The guys did a great job today," BCC head coach Jamie Howell said. "It was a very difficult course to score on. Small, undulating greens, you can't miss on the wrong side of the hole."

The teams will play 18 holes on Tuesday.
