BCC Golfers Finish Third in Florida Tech Panther Invitational

March 19, 2013 - Brevard Community College's golf team finished third, four strokes off the pace in the Florida Tech Panther Invitational at The Majors in Palm Bay on Tuesday.

BCC shot 302-303-299 for a 54-hole total of 904. St. Leo University shot 304-292-304 for the winning total of 900. Host Florida Tech was second at 308-289-305-902. West Georgia (291-307-309-907) was fourth, Montevallo (306-307-297-910) fifth and Tampa (322-294-314-930) sixth.

"The golf course played very hard and we had too many big numbers," BCC head coach Jamie Howell said. "We played a lot of good golf but had too many double bogeys or higher."

Keith Greene had the best BCC finish, tying for fifth at 73-76-71-220. Anthony Skirk tied for eighth (81-72-70-223); Tyler Howes of BCC's White or No. 2 team was 12th (71-78-76-225). Blake Biggs 14th (72-75-80-227). Kyle Benson of BCC White was 17th (76-76-77-229).

BCC's Nelson Apsey was 26th (84-78-75-237) Nick Maynard was 27th (80-80-78-238) and Arthur Leonard tied for 28th (77-81-81-239). Brett Maue withdrew after two rounds due to illness.

Montevallo's Dalton Skinner was medalist at 70-73-73-216.

Next up for BCC is a dual match at 2 p.m. Thursday against Monmouth College at the Rockledge Country Club.
