BCC Golf Team 12 Strokes off Lead

February 16, 2013 - Brevard Community College's golf team finished the first day of the Elizabeth Kling Memorial Invitational in fifth place, 12 strokes behind first-place Central Alabama Community College on Saturday in Fairhope, AL.

BCC shot 316 to 304 for Central Alabama. Wallace State Community College is second, 307; Darton College third, 313; Meridian Community College fourth, 314.

Individually Darton's Nick Greene and Central Alabama's Andrew Klasing are tied for first at 74. Central Alabama's J.M. O'Toole is third at 75. BCC's Blake Biggs is fourth at 76.

Also for BCC: Anthony Skirk, 78; Arthur Leonard, 79; Keith Greene, 83; Brett Maue, 86.

"We played like the weather, bad," BCC head coach Jamie Howell said. "It was 45 to 55 degrees, the wind was blowing 10 to 20 mph.

"Rock Creek is an exceptional golf course and the high scoring shows how difficult it is as no team broke 300. Central Alabama will be tough to catch on Sunday. The weather Sunday morning is to be similar to today."
