BCC Golfers Fall Behind on Second Day

November 3, 2012 - Brevard Community College dropped three out of four matches to Florida Tech on Saturday's second day of the Collegiate Players Cup golf tournament at Duran Golf Club in Viera.

BCC managed just one halve for .5 points in the fourball – two-man best ball – format to end the day trailing 5-3.

FIT's Jimmy Bologna and Wyatt Racette defeated BCC's Brett Maue and Nelson Apsey 1 up; FIT's Brandon Lau and David Glenister beat BCC's Kyle Benson and Nick Maynard 3-1; FIT's Ray Badenhorst and Andrew Wuethrich halved with BCC's Arthur Leonard and Anthony Skirk and FIT's Justin Kalanquin and Bret Krog           defeated Keith Greene and Blake Biggs 1 up.

"Florida Tech out played us today," BCC head coach Jamie Howell said. "Leonard and Skirk shot 8 under par and halved their match so there was some excellent golf being played.

"Maue and Apsey saw a 1 up lead with three to play turn into a 1 down loss. Greene and Biggs had the same happen to them and Benson and Maynard ran into a buzz saw in Lau and Glenister.

"The Collegiate Players Cup has turned into a very competitive competition and either team will have to play well on Sunday to bring the cup back to their campus."
