BCC Second After First Day of Darton Invitational Golf Tournament

October 8, 2012 - The Brevard Community College golf team sits in second place 14 strokes behind the leader after the first day of the Darton College Fall Invitational in Albany, Ga.

BCC shot a 36-hole total of 287-296-583 to trail first-place Central Alabama Community College which carded a 287-282-569.

Host Darton College is third at 300-287-587 over the 6,919-yard, par 72 River Pointe Golf Club.

Individually BCC's Kyle Benson is third at 68-73-141. Darton's T.K. Kim leads at 72-68-140 while Central Alabama's Alex Mahik is second at 74-66-140.

Other BCC scoring was: Blake Biggs, 73 – 73-146; Tyler Howes, 72 – 74-146; Anthony Skirk, 74 – 76-150 and Keith Greene, 75 – 83-158.

"We had a good opening round on a very challenging course," BCC head coach Jamie Howell said. "There were a variety of mishaps during the afternoon round, several wayward tee shots and too many missed opportunities on short holes."

The third and final round begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

BCC has finished second and third respectively in the first two events of the six-event fall schedule at Wallace State, AL, and Webber International while individually Arthur Leonard and Brett Maue both recorded second-place finishes.
