BCC Golf Team Ranked Fourth Nationally

October 3, 2012 - The Brevard Community College golf team is ranked fourth nationally in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf NJCAA Divisions I and II College Coaches' Poll.

BCC, which was ranked sixth in the previous poll, has competed in two tournaments so far this fall season. It finished second in the season-opening tournament at Wallace State in Cullman, AL and third in the Webber Warrior Invitational in Lake Wales last week.

Individually BCC freshmen Arthur Leonard and Brett Maue finished second at Wallace State and Webber respectively.

"Young teams tend to improve a little at a time," BCC head coach Jamie Howell said. "Seven weeks into the fall semester and we are two spots better in the poll than in September. Preseason polls can be misleading in anticipated results. Season-long polls reveal trends about teams' capabilities.

"We are still very early in our season and by the end of November we will have a good handle on who we are and what we are capable of doing as a team as we enter the spring semester."

Indian Hills (IA) Community College, Odessa (TX) and Central Alabama are ranked first through third.

Next up for BCC is the Darton College Fall Invitational Monday and Tuesday in Albany, GA.
