BCC Second After Tournament's Opening Day

September 23, 2012 - The Brevard Community College golf team sits second after Sunday's first day of the Webber International Warrior Invitational in Lake Wales.

The 54-hole tournament concludes beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday at the Lake Wales Country Club.

BCC shot rounds of 297-294 for a 36-hole total of 591, trailing first-place St. Thomas University of Miami which shot 284-290-574. Nine teams are competing.

The day did not go as BCC head coach Jamie Howell had expected.

"Too many bad shots, a couple of poor choices and we struggled on the greens," Howell said. "We're going to go after a better strategy off the tees, putting the ball into play better and performing better on the greens."

Brett Maue had low score of the day for BCC, shooting 70-71-141 for second overall to St. Thomas' Omar Tejeira (138). Also for BCC Blake Biggs shot 71-76-147; Arthur Leonard 76-74-150; Tyler Howes 80-75-155 and Keith Greene 82-74-156.

Next up for BCC, which finished second in its fall season opener at Wallace State in Alabama, is the Darton College Fall Invitational Oct. 8-9 in Albany, GA.
