Former Titan Westhorpe Receives Second Honor

July 30, 2012 - Brevard Community College and Florida Tech graduate, Christian Westhorpe, has collected his second award of the summer. A Titusville resident, Westhorpe was named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Westhorpe was one of only 52 NCAA Division II student-athletes honored. In June he also received NCAA Division II PING All-South Region recognition for his efforts for Florida Tech.

Westhorpe played for BCC from 2008-2010.

A recent FIT graduate with a marketing degree, Westhorpe concluded his two-year career in May. In his senior year, he set single-season school records for scoring average (73.50) and rounds of par or better (six). He finished second in highest national ranking over a season (57), lowest 36-hole score (six-under-par) and career scoring average (74.41).

Last spring he placed in the top five in four tournaments. Over 30 rounds, he averaged a team-best 73.50.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon Division II All-America Scholar status,  an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 78.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
