Titans Golf 10th @ Buccaneer Invitational
April 4, 2012 - Brevard Community College returned from the Barry Buccaneer Invitational with a tenth place finish in the field of 13 teams. Playing 54 holes over the par 71, 6,805 yard Normandy Shores Golf Club in Miami Beach, Fla., the Titans were the only Junior College competing in the field of thirteen NCAA Division 2 teams. Tournament host Barry University retained the team title with a three round total of 841 (eleven under par), while the Titans shot 872 (287-295-290 = 872).
The Titans were led by sophomore Billy Anderson who finished tied for tenth with scores of 70-69-73 = 212 (one under par). Billy finished six shots behind Marcelo Rozo of Lynn University who won medalist honors with a total of 206 (seven under par). Turning in a solid effort for the second event in a row was Titan sophomore Bryan Odaiyar who shot 74-74-71 = 219 to finish tied for 34th. Rounding out the scoring were freshman Keith Greene (73-78-70 = 221, T-41st), sophomore Travis Tolbert (70-77-76 = 223, T-47th) and sophomore Justin Kalanquin (76-75-79 = 230, 68th).
The next event on the schedule finds the team hosting the NJCAA District 4 Championship at Rockledge Country Club in Rockledge, Florida on April 16 – 17. A minimum of twelve teams will be vying for six slots to compete in the NJCAA Division 1 National Championship in May in Newton, Kan. Spectators are welcome to attend this tournament and there is no cost to watch and cheer on your Titan golf team.
