Eastern Florida Women Fall 74-40 to St. Petersburg College

Feb. 19, 2014 - Eastern Florida's women's basketball team started and finished cold in dropping a 74-40 decision to St. Petersburg College on Wednesday at the Melbourne Campus gym.

Eastern Florida allowed Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference leader St. Petersburg to get out to a 16-0 lead in the game's first 4 minutes and 46 seconds and then scored only five points over the game's final 10:39.

Freshmen Jessica Doyle and Rachelle Aupont once again led Eastern Florida, Doyle with 17 points and Aupont with 13 points and 13 rebounds for her ninth double-double in her last 10 games.

The loss dropped Eastern Florida to 5-23 overall and 2-12 in the conference. St. Petersburg improved to 22-6 and 12-2. Eastern Florida plays its final conference game of the season at 2 p.m. Saturday against Indian River State College in Fort Pierce. Eastern Florida concludes its season with a Sophomore Night game at 6 p.m. Monday in the Melbourne Campus gym against Trinity Baptist College of Jacksonville.
