Miami's First-Half Run, Inside Game Sink Eastern Florida Women, 78-49
Jan. 11, 2014 - Eastern Florida State's women's basketball team allowed Miami Dade College to finish the first half with a 28-11 run and never recovered, falling 78-49 at the Melbourne Campus gym on Saturday.
The loss dropped Eastern Florida to 3-14 overall and 0-3 in the Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference. Miami Dade improved to 5-11 overall and 2-0 in conference.
Miami's late first-half run turned an 8-8 tie into a 36-19 advantage at the break as the Sharks continually beat the undermanned Titans inside. While Eastern Florida scored 30 second-half points it had no answer for Miami's inside game and advantage off a deeper bench.

Sophomore guard Vernessa Hinnot led Miami Dade with 20 points while classmate and forward Channel Davis added 19. Freshman forward Tyra Bolden scored 14 points and freshman guard Alex Ungro scored 10.
Things don't get any easier for Eastern Florida as conference foe St. Petersburg College, 15-2 and 0-1, comes calling at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Admission to Eastern Florida home games is free.
