Eastern Florida Women Drop Close Game to Seventh-Ranked Northwest Florida
Dec. 6, 2013 - Eastern Florida State College's women's basketball team suffered its eighth defeat of the season on Friday afternoon but not without a fight.
The Titans played nationally seventh-ranked Northwest Florida State College close throughout the game in the Florida College Shootout in Gainesville only to fall 85-77.
Eastern Florida dropped to 2-8 while Northwest Florida improved to 8-1.
Northwest Florida led at the half 36-32.
Freshman Rachelle Aupont led Eastern Florida with 18 points on 7-for-12 from the floor. She also grabbed eight rebounds and had two assists. Classmate Rhaven Kemp scored 16 points and recorded four assists and three steals.
"I was proud of the effort the players gave," said Eastern Florida head coach Jim Grimes. "We have focused a lot on our process of playing tough, hard, smart and together, and we were better in those areas today. Hopefully we have some things to build on moving forward."
Eastern Florida concludes the Shootout when it plays Pensacola State College, which was 6-3 going into Friday, at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
