Eastern Florida Women's Basketball Drops Close One to Central Florida
Nov. 16, 2013 - Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team came up just short on Saturday night dropping an 89-80 decision to host College of Central Florida on the final day of the Central Florida Tournament in Ocala.
Eastern Florida trailed at the half 40-35. It dropped to 2-6 on the season. Central Florida improved to 4-3.
Freshman Jessica Doyle led Eastern Florida with 33 points on 6-for-13 from the 3-point line and 5-for-5 from the free throw line. Doyle totaled 75 points in Eastern Florida's three games this week and scored 30 or more points for the second time this season.
Classmate Rhaven Kemp scored 11 points and recorded five steals. Sophomore Kirsten Colgan scored 11 points while freshman Rachelle Aupont had 10 points, four rebounds and three assists.
"We fought the whole way, down to the end," said Eastern Florida assistant coach Olivia Atwell. "We gave 110 percent."
Next up for the Titans is their second home game of the season, 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25 against Skagit Valley of Washington State in the Melbourne Campus gym. Admission is free.
