June 3, 2013 - Brevard Community College head women's basketball coach Jim Grimes secured a player who was one of his top priorities, signing Rhaeven Kemp of Liberty Technology Magnet High School in Jackson, TN.

Kemp is a 5-foot, 7-inch guard for whom Grimes has high hopes.

"Rhaeven is an athletic floor leader who will be counted on to contribute right away," Grimes said. "Her quickness and vision make her a special player at the point guard position.

"I know her teammates will love playing with her because she is very unselfish and a great passer. She was one of our highest priorities since our staff took over so we are very excited that she has decided to become a Titan."

BCC begins competing on July 1 as Eastern Florida State College. It will retain the Titans mascot.

Kemp graduated as Liberty's all-time assist leader with 571. As a senior she was the team leader in assists (134), steals (73), and free throw percentage (65 percent). She recorded two double-doubles and three triple-doubles as a senior. Also as a senior she was the team MVP and the team Offensive Player of the Year.

She averaged 12.6 points, 2.8 steals, 5.2 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game.

BCC was one of 15 colleges that expressed interest in Kemp who also was a state track qualifier and participant in the 4x100 and the 4x200 relays.

Kemp joins previous signees sisters Ashley and Amber Daniels of Murfreesboro, TN, Jessica Doyle of Palm Bay, FL, Kaniesha Atwater of Fort Pierce, FL and Dejah Bradshaw of Hialeah, FL.
