Febuary 16, 2013 - The Brevard Community College women's basketball team broke a 22-game losing streak and won its first Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference game on the season at home on Saturday defeating Indian River State College 52-51.

BCC led at the half 29-19.

"The ladies have been competitive all season and it paid off," BCC head coach Renee Bellamy said. "They were determined not to lose over these last games of the season.

"I told them to continue working hard and continue playing together and a win would come."

Freshman Nuri Muhammad led BCC with 15 points. Sophomore co-captain Kasie Berry added 12 points and 10 rebounds and freshman Kendall Hedgecock 11 points as BCC improved to 3-25 overall and 1-12 in conference.

Indian River fell to 13-10 overall and 8-5 in conference.

BCC wraps up its home schedule at 5 p.m. Wednesday on Sophomore Night against Palm Beach State.
