BCC Women's Basketball Losing Streak Reaches 20 in 83-68 defeat

February 6, 2013 - The Brevard Community College women's basketball team suffered its 20th consecutive defeat on Wednesday, falling 83-68 to Miami Dade College at the Melbourne Campus gym.

BCC is 2-23 overall and 0-10 in the Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference. Miami Dade improved to 8-17 overall and 4-6 in the conference.

BCC has five conference games remaining in its season including a 2 p.m. Saturday match up with Broward College in Melbourne.

Admission to BCC home games is free.

Sophomore co-captain Kasie Berry led BCC with 19 points. She was the only Lady Titan in double figures as classmate, co-captain and leading scorer Shaneece Stephens missed her eighth straight game with a knee injury.

Freshman Ajee Smith led Miami Dade with 18 points. Freshman Channel Davis added 15 and classmate Tjiana Djukic scored 14.

BCC led 20-19 with 9 minutes and 49 seconds to play in the first half but trailed 43-38 at halftime. BCC allowed Miami Dade to build a 24-point lead, 66-42 with 11:41 to play and never got closer than 12 points the rest of the way.
