Eastern Florida Men Fall 67-60 to Miami Dade
Feb. 1, 2014 - Eastern Florida's men's basketball team dropped a Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference game to Miami Dade College on Saturday, falling 67-60 in Kendall.
The loss dropped Eastern Florida to 19-6 overall and 5-2 in the conference, setting up a crucial conference match-up with Broward College at 7 p.m. Wednesday on the Melbourne Campus. Broward also is 5-2 in the conference. One of its losses was a 77-73 overtime defeat at home to Eastern Florida.
Miami Dade improved to 17-7 and 4-3 in the conference.
Under new rules this season the top two teams in the FCSAA's four conferences advance to the FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 postseason tournament.
Sophomores Shaheed Davis and Mike Kirkland led Eastern Florida in scoring with 15 and 13 points respectively. Miami Dade led at halftime 31-25.
The loss was the first to Miami Dade for Eastern Florida head coach Jeremy Shulman who had been 11-0 against the Sharks.
Eastern Florida has won 28 straight games at home.
