Final 6 Conference Games Await Eastern Florida Men's Basketball
Jan. 29, 2014 - Crunch time has arrived for Eastern Florida's men's basketball team.
With a 19-5 overall record and a 5-1 mark in the Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference the Titans face their final six conference games of the regular season with a berth in the FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 tournament at stake.
Eastern Florida visits Miami Dade in Kendall at 2 p.m. on Saturday and returns home to play Broward College at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5 in the Melbourne Campus gym with first place in the conference at stake.
Admission to Eastern Florida home games is free.
Broward, 16-5 overall and 4-1 in the conference, hosts Miami Dade (15-7 and 2-3) tonight and Indian River State (13-8 and 1-5) on Saturday as it continues its pursuit of the Titans who scored a 77-73 overtime victory in Davie on Jan. 22.
That victory gave Eastern Florida a leg up in the conference race and a win on Feb. 5 would give the Titans a tiebreaker over the Seahawks should they end up with the same conference records.
Southern Conference teams play each other three times to determine the first-and second-place finishers who move on to the postseason. Eastern Florida has beaten Palm Beach State twice, split with Indian River State and beaten Miami Dade and Broward once.
Eastern Florida won the conference championship last season and advanced to the FCSAA/Region 8 title game where it lost 63-58 to eventual national champion College of Central Florida. The Titans finished the season 26-7.
