Eastern Florida Men Fall 73-72 at Indian River State
Jan. 25, 2014 - Eastern Florida's men's basketball team saw a six-game winning streak snapped on Saturday in suffering its first Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference loss of the season, 73-72 at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce.
The loss dropped Eastern Florida to 18-5 overall and 4-1 in the conference. Indian River improved to 13-7 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
Eastern Florida led by as many as 18 points in the second half but allowed Indian River back into the game and in the final minutes Indian River out shot Eastern Florida 12-1 from the free-throw line.
Eastern Florida had a chance to win with .9 seconds remaining following two Indian River free throws but the officials waved off sophomore Mike Kirkland's apparent winning basket saying time had expired.
Next up for Eastern Florida is a 7 p.m. Monday conference game against Palm Beach State at the Melbourne Campus gym. Admission is free.
