Three Eastern Florida Basketball Players Invited to Elite Event
July 10, 2013 - Three Eastern Florida State College men's basketball players will participate in the July 19-21 All-American JUCO Showcase Elite 80 East event in Atlanta.
The Elite 80 is an invitation-only event for the nation's best junior college players who are entering their sophomore year.
Shaheed Davis, Ben Patrick and Torrance Rowe will participate in the showcase at the Suwanee Sports Center. The event drew more than 300 coaches from four-year colleges and universities in 2012.
The players will go through an extensive series of drills in front of the coaches. Upon completion they will compete in the showcase which will feature full-length games.
Davis is a 6-foot, 9-inch forward from Warren, OH who transferred from Polk State College in Winter Haven, FL; Patrick is a 6-3 guard from Clearwater, FL who finished the 2012-2013 season as Eastern Florida's team leader in assists with 131 in 33 games.
Rowe is a 6-foot guard from Atlanta who transferred from Holmes Community College in Goodman, MS.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for Shaheed, Ben and Torrance," said Eastern Florida Titans head coach Jeremy Shulman who will be attending the showcase as an observer.
"They will get to measure themselves against other top caliber players. It can only help them as they prepare for their sophomore season in a very competitive Florida College System Activities Association environment that produced not only the 2013 national champion but the 2013 runner-up as well."
The Titans previously competed as Brevard Community College, changing to Eastern Florida State College on July 1, 2013 to reflect the addition of Bachelor's Degrees. Despite becoming a four-year school, Eastern Florida State College competes at the NJCAA or two-year level.
