Addison Spruill

February 19, 2013 - Brevard Community College men's basketball guard/forward Addison Spruill is this week's NJCAA Region 8/Florida College System Activities Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

Spruill, a 6-foot, 4-inch sophomore from Currie, N.C., averaged 23 points, 6.5 rebounds and five assists in two games during the voting period.

Spruill delivered his best performance in the Titans' biggest game of the season to date, a Feb. 13 must-win game against NJCAA Division I No. 8-ranked Palm Beach State.

Spruill was good on 11-of-22 field goal attempts en route to a 29-point night as BCC defeated Palm Beach 72-69 in overtime. Spruill also had eight rebounds, three assists and three blocks. He scored the first seven points of the overtime period.

On Saturday Spruill scored 17 points, grabbed five rebounds and had seven assists in BCC's 87-83 win at Miami Dade. The victory put BCC into position to capture the FSCAA Southern Conference championship with a victory against Broward College at home on Wednesday.

For the week, Spruill shot 50 percent (15-of-30) from the floor, 33.3 percent (4-of-12) on three-pointers and 70.6 percent (12-of-17) from the free throw line.

Spruill also won the award for the week ending Nov. 6, 2012.

"Addison was absolutely outstanding last week, and it's very exciting that his efforts have been recognized in being named the FSCAA Player of the Week," BCC head coach Jeremy Shulman said. "He truly carried the team on his back in overtime in our win against nationally-ranked Palm Beach."

Also, BCC (23-6) is ranked fourth in the state in the FCSAA coaches' poll, one spot ahead of Palm Beach State (27-2 with both losses to BCC). Northwest Florida State (24-2) is No. 1, Chipola College (24-3) No. 2 and the College of Central Florida (25-3) No. 3.
