Red-Hot Titans Run Baseball Winning Streak to Nine Games With Sweep

February 22, 2014 - Eastern Florida's baseball team's winning streak stands at nine after the Titans swept host College of Central Florida in Ocala on Saturday.

Eastern Florida, which improved to 10-3, beat the Patriots 8-5 and 5-4.

Central Florida dropped to 10-7.

Sophomore Jon Piriz was the winning pitcher in the first game with Josh Smith picking up the save.

Offensively Austin Pereira went 2-for-4 with a run batted in. Jack Machonis went 2-for4 while Christian Diaz went 1-for-4 with a triple and three runs batted in. Nick Capra was 1-for-3 with a triple and two runs batted in.

The Titans belted out nine hits and committed three errors. Central Florida had 10 hits and an error.

Alec Lamrouex was the winning pitcher in the second game with Chayce Hubbard picking up the save.

Diaz went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs giving him three hits and seven RBIs for the day. J.J. Gould went 2-for-4 with a triple.

Next up for the Titans is a 5 p.m. Monday home game at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne Campus against Daytona State College. Admission is free.
