BCC Drops 2-0 Baseball Game at Indian River State
April 10, 2013 - The day after clinching its first Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference tournament berth in recent years with a nine-inning comeback against Indian River State College, Brevard Community College's baseball team dropped a 2-0 decision to the Pioneers in Fort Pierce on Wednesday.
BCC was limited to two hits while allowing four.
"Starting pitcher Kenton Hering pitched a great game, we just came up short on the offensive side," BCC head coach Jeff Tam said.
Hering pitched eight innings throwing just 85 pitches in taking the loss. He allowed single runs in the sixth and eighth innings.
"He pitched awesome," Tam said.
BCC fell to 9-11 in the conference with four games remaining. It is tied with Broward College for third place. The Titans are 21-19-1 overall. Indian River improved to 5-17 in the conference and 14-25 overall.
BCC plays at conference champion Miami Dade on Friday and hosts the Sharks at 3 p.m. Saturday at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne Campus.
It concludes the regular season by visiting second-place Palm Beach State in Lake Worth on Tuesday and hosting Palm Beach at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Admission to BCC home games is free.
BCC will then compete in the conference tournament hosted by the second-place team the weekend of April 19. The winner joins Miami Dade in the state tournament in May.
