Broward Rallies to Hand BCC 8-6 Baseball Loss
March 23, 2013 - Brevard Community College's baseball team surrendered three leads and lost on a two-run home run in the 10th inning on Saturday, 8-6 to host Broward College.
BCC led by four runs early and by one run heading into the bottom of the ninth before Broward tied the game at 6-6.
Chris Gilmore took the loss for BCC, which fell to 5-7 in the Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference and 17-15-1 overall.
Broward improved to 6-6 and 23-13 overall with its third victory over BCC in four meetings this season.
BCC outhit Broward 16-12 but stranded 11 runners, three of them on third base with less than two outs. BCC also struggled to keep Broward at bay.
"We made a few too many mistakes pitching in key situations," BCC head coach Jeff Tam said. "It was a tough loss. We need to regroup and get back to work on Monday."
Offensively for BCC Chris Dennis went 3-for-4 and T.J. Glessner 3-for-5.
BCC returns home to Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne Campus for a 5 p.m. conference game against Palm Beach State on Tuesday. BCC then travels to Lake Worth to play Palm Beach at 5 p.m. on Wednesday and hosts conference first-place and nationally third-ranked Miami Dade College at 6 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.
