BCC Wraps Up Non-Conference Baseball Schedule With 13-11 Victory

March 19, 2013 - Brevard Community College's baseball team climbed two games above .500 on Tuesday, defeating visiting Team Canada 13-11 at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne Campus.

The game was the final non-conference affair for BCC (16-14-1) which now faces a stretch of 14 straight Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference games – beginning Friday at Broward College - to conclude the regular season.

BCC outhit Team Canada 8-4 but allowed seven runs in the fourth inning on just two hits and no errors.

Team Canada committed five errors.

Chris Gilmore was the winning pitcher, his second victory in relief in two days.

"We should not have let them stay in the game," BCC head coach Jeff Tam said. "We put ourselves in a tight spot pitching in the end. We were fortunate to get the win."

Offensively for BCC Morgan Harris went 3-for-3, David King was 2-for-5 with four runs batted in and Roman Restrepo was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

BCC is 4-6 in the conference and tied for third place with Palm Beach State. Indian River State is fifth at 3-7. Miami Dade leads at 8-2 and Broward is second at 5-3. Only the fifth-place team does not advance to the postseason.
