BCC Blanks Conference Foe Indian River State, 3-0
March 15, 2013 - Brevard Community College's baseball team won a key Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference game on Friday, blanking host Indian River State College 3-0.
The victory moved fourth-place BCC to 4-5 in the conference and 14-13-1 overall while fifth and last-place Indian River dropped to 2-7 and 11-15.
Aaron Miller was the winning pitcher for BCC while Chris Gilmore got the save. BCC pounded out 10 hits while limiting Indian River State to five. Each team committed an error.
David King went 3-for-4 and drove in all three of BCC's runs. Chris Dennis went 3-for-5.
"It was a well-played game played hard from start to finish," BCC head coach Jeff Tam said. "We had great at bats, great defense, great pitching.
"We have to keep building on it and move forward."
BCC hosts Indian River at 6 p.m. Saturday at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne Campus as it continues its drive for a postseason berth.
BCC has 15 conference games remaining before the April 19-20 conference tournament that determines the field for the FCSAA state tournament.
